This is the British version of the ABBA cover band phenomena, you know it might have just been easier to bring back the BROTHERHOOD of MAN.

ABBA's legendary manager and label owner. Stig was sometimes referred to as the fifth member of ABBA . He never played or sang on any of ABBA's officially released recordings. But ,Stig wrote or co-wrote the lyrics to many of ABBA's hits from 1972 through 1977, Stig speciality lyrically was coming up with catchy, simple song titles...
Stig was also known for his pre-ABBA career as a performer, songwriter, music publisher and label owner in the Swedish music business. After ABBA broke up-he seemed less happy-..He endowed Sweden's Polar Music prize. He died 12 September, 1997.
Stig's records are hard to find...You can find a couple of his tracks on these hard to find compilation albums.
Stig Anderson-Stig "Stikkan"Anderson -Swedish? Obscure Out of print LP 1974
This is quite a rare album that compiles ten of ABBA manager's own recordings , presumably mostly songs he did in the 1950's....it was supposedly issued on the Telstar label, not on Stig's own Polar label,.. It seems strange to think of Stig as a performer- but in any case, he also dabbled as a songwriter and a teacher before starting the Polar record label in 1964.. Stig had his greatest success prior to ABBA in translating foreign songs into Swedish.
A few of Stig's songs have made unto CD...but only on various Artist compilation albums.....

Full of cool rarities. Features one Agnetha track, the rare song-"Ljuva sextital ( Sweet Sixties)" a song supposedly recorded for Swedish radio in 1980 for tribute to Stig. This is the only B&B song other than the Swedish version of "SOS" that Agnetha recorded outside of ABBA. " Ljuva Sexital" was originally recorded in 1969 by Brita Borg. The album also includes Annifrid Lyngstad's "Tango i det gröna" , Björn Ulvaeus's "Fröken Fredriksson" and thirteen other songs. Some are tracks by people I have never heard of. You can also find two of ABBA mangers' Stig Anderson's hard to find recordings here on this album.

This is a Swedish collection, that is the first one to actually
compile most of the important songs written or cowritten by ABBA
manager/lyric writer Stig Anderson. This set also includes
a few of the songs he actually performed as an artist..This set

Ella Rouge is Ludvig Andersson's band. Ludvig is Benny Andersson's youngest son who he had with his current wife, Mona Norklit. Ludvig's first album in 2004 was a solo album. With Ella Rouge, Ludvig is lead singer/guitarist...He is also the lead songwriter for the group. The record is released on Ludvig's own label, but recently has had international distribution. The song "Eldorado High" became a bit of hit on the My Space's alternative music chart in 2006..

LENA ANDERSSON
Swedish blond backing vocalist on some of ABBA's tours, she was solo singing artist who sang for the Polar Music label, in the 1970's. All four ABBA did backing vocals on some of her records. Despite her name she is unrelated to either Benny Andersson or Stig Anderson.
She can be heard singing quite beautifully on Polars' Christmas album -Julens Musik..A compilation of her work came out in mid 2003. Lena is conservative Christian and is unpopular with the some of ABBA's gay fans for her homophobic views.

This was the first album by the blond Polar label singer. The album title refers to her age at the time the album was recorded. This album includes the Anderson-Anderson-Ulvaeus song -"Language of Love" .

This was the second album by the blond Polar label singer. Stig and Bjorn coproduced it and all four ABBA members sing backing vocals on it. Strangely none of the songs on the album were written by B&B , though some of her other albums and singles include B&B songs.

This was a Japanese only release for Lena, that was perhaps inspired by Bjorn & Benny's sucess with the song "She's My Kind of Girl" .The LP includes "the B&B tracks -"Cecelia" and "Better To Have Loved".

In 1972 Lena Andersson released a LP "12 nya visor"
(12 new songs) produced by Björn, Benny and Stikkan.
The album contained two Björn and Benny songs: "En visa
om arton svanar" (A song about 18 swans)
and "Barn" (Children). The album was recorded in London
and arranged by Arthur Greenslade

and Benny together with other lyricists, these two songs have
never available on CD before, The CD contains 20 tracks, and includes
liner notes by Carl Magnus Palm.

Angeleyes-ABBAdance Late 1999 European CD
This CD is a dançe orientated record by the cover band -"Angeleyes".There was controversy over this release when Benny discovered that the record label who put this out were flagrantly using the ABBA logo on the cover. (oh the horror of it !) . So the copies were withdrawn, sorta, maybe , perhaps..

tracks here,they have recorded a rare 1976 B&B song never
recorded by ABBA (Funky Feet), have recorded a non-B&B composition
( All My tomorrows) and most interestingly have done a full length
version of "Just A Notion". This album was produced
by ABBA bassist , Rutger Gunnarson.

A*TEENS-THE ABBA GENERATION 1999 Available on CD in many markets
A*Teens are as the name suggest a group
of Swedish teens, 2 girls, 2 boys who on their first album have
covered ABBA songs. They have been hugely successful in Sweden
and have had success
elsewhere. They have been generally well
received by ABBA fans who have heard them. Their ABBA covers probably
sound the freshest of any act that has tried to cover ABBA,
The group was originally called ABBA TEENS.Their
name was changed to A*Teens when Benny Andersson reneged on a
agreement to let the group use the ABBA TEENS name. Geez, A *Teens
is a better name anyway!
Their single of "Mamma Mia" was Sweden's biggest hit
of 1999. However it did not do as well in the U.K. Surprisingly,
the A-Teens have done fairly well in the U.S.A. Their first album
features entirely ABBA covers.
A*TEENS- TEEN SPIRIT 2000 Available on CD
The A-Teens moved away from simply being a ABBA cover band into original material on this their second album. A logical move carried out relatively well by the A*Teens' ever changing producers.This was released in 2001 in the USA and the album actually went Gold, the first album of new ABBA related material to go Goldin America in a long time..

Daniel Balavoine
.Daniel was a French singer. Frida stuck up quite a friendship with Balavoine in 1983. He work as a songwriter and backing vocalist on her Shine album. He died in 1986 in accident. He released numerous solo albums, one of which actually features his work with Frida.

This set includes Frida 's hard to find duet with the late Daniel Balavoine called "Belle" and " Dieu que c'est beau" which has backing vocals by Frida..."Belle" is from "ABBA-Cadabra". The song is not available on any Frida albums...Frida stuck quite a friendship with Balavoine in 1983. All the other songs are in French...

This British Synthpop act recorded a ABBA cover during the dark days of the early post ABBA period, they never worked with ABBA.
Blancmange-Mange Tout British CD 1984
This album includes one of the more influential covers of an ABBA song. BLancmange had a British hit with their cover of 1982 ABBA Track -" The Day before you came".The song is more easily available on Blancmange 1990 hits collection called Second HeLPings.

Ola Brunkert
In the 1970's Ola was ABBA's main drummer who
like Rutger Gunnarson and
Lasse Wellander was yet another brown- haired Swede.
For some reason towards the end of ABBA's career he was phased
out ias
primary ABBA session Drummer in favor of Per Lindvall. Ola didn't
played
on any of B&B's post ABBA solo work.
An accidental run-in with some glass in his apartment in Majorca,
Spain led
his unexpected death in March 2008. The freak nature of the accident
helped make Ola's death become notable worldwide news, and oddly
enough for the first time, non-hardcore fans knew who ABBA's drummer
was.
Benny released a kids record by these folks on his Mono label..
Björn Again, were formed in Australia
in 1988.
They were the first internationally successful ABBA cover band.
They have been phenomenally successful on stage despite their
use of phony Swedish accents and derisive if funny stage names.
Their albums are forgettable, but they have at least tried to
record some non-ABBA material.
Worked with Agnetha during her 1970's Swedish solo career.

The legendary Barbara Dickson, is a Brish singer and originator of the part of Svetlana on the original concept album of CHESS. She did not appear in the London or Broad way versions,.but eventually appeared in an Australian version in the part of Florence..

The group is a female trio that takes it name from the CHESS character, Florence Vassey. The girls in the group sung in the Swedish version of Mamma Mia and in the chorus of the movie version. Florence,is a trio featuring Benny Andersson's daughter-in-law Lisa Östberg and her friends Anna Granath and Sara Jangfeldt. The group had also sung together as part of something called the THE BAND project also in 2004.
Both Benny and Ludvig Andersson play on this CD.. The album does not include any new Benny Andersson songs.

The late, great Swedish singer/songwriter
Ted Gärdestad recorded a
number of albums for Polar in the 1970's .Ted continued as a recording
artist until his recent death. His song "Gonna Make You my
Angel " was
one of the first B&B non- ABBA productions to be released
outside of
Sweden. Players from ABBA's band played on his rccords. Ted had
a voice
similar to Todd Rundgren. He seemed to be a lot more talented
then the
later B&B protege, Tomas Ledin. Ted's brother, Kenneth Gärdestadis
a
lyricist who worked with Ted , Agnetha and others.
He died in 1997 , since then numerous
compilations albums have been released, many of his albums are
in print in Sweden. In February 2005 a
music with Ted's songs in premieried in Stockholm...

GEMINI (Anders and Karin Glenmark)
Gemini featuring sibling Swedes Karin & Anders Glenmark recorded two albums in 1985 and 1987 with B&B. Karin and Anders have also have worked on Benny's Solo albums, CHESS,Agnetha's solo albums , Frida solo albums and were stars of the B&B tribute concerts. Anders and Karin also have solo careers. In both 2005 and 2006 they toured as duo again though not using the Gemini name....
Gemini-Gemini 1985 Released internationally on CD ,but out of print- Cowritten and Co-Produced by Andersson and Ulvaeus
Gemini were the sister/brother duo of Karin & Anders Glenmark. The Glenmarks were part of the same family that owned the Glen Studio in Stockholm where ABBA recorded on a few occasions in the 1970's
Anders & Karin (along with Liza Ohlman) were the main backing vocalists for the original CHESS album, but also have had solo careers in Sweden.This album was the first new project B&B worked on following the completion of the Chess album. Benny and the ABBA band provide the musical backing and B&B coproduced with Anders Glenmark. Michael Tretow only engineered two of the songs here. Producing and writing song for a duo with one male and one female singer was probably not the best move for B&B at this point,in their careers. People really expected a lot more from B&B. Gemini was like making a record with just half of ABBA- and thus was bound to suffer from the comparision.
Gemini have a more soulful sound than ABBA
due primarily to Anders Glenmark's passionate singing. Karin Glenmark
is a bit more icy of a singer but she has the more unique voice
of the two. On the first listen, some of the songs here sound
like bad 80's pop but after a few listens the trademark ABBA
style hooks start to sink in. Even the songs that Anders Glenmark
wrote the music for start to sound like B&B songs after awhile.
This album has the something of dark, serious tone that ABBA
had on the THE VISITORS except that some of the lyrics are not
as good, Björn has written relatively banal lyrics for some
of the songs. Ingela Forsman (who wrote the lyrics for two of
Anders' three songs) does no better. (Ingela has also written
lyrics for Agenetha Faltskog).
There are at least three or four very good B&B songs here. The legendary partially released ABBA song ,"Just Like That' made it's official debut here on this album and was released as a (failed) single internationally .The version of JLT here is in a minor key and has some additional lyrics that are not on the unreleased ABBA version. JLT certainly seems better constructed here than in the ABBA version." Have Mercy" has a intriguing lyric about a fallen leader and some subtle but catchy hooks in it's chorus. This song really suits Gemini well, ABBA couldn't have pulled the pseudo -gospel aspects of this song off.
"Slowly" is done in a duet in a more interesting but less straight forward version than the version done by Frida a year earlier on her SHINE album. "Another You, Another Me" (which ABBA lyric does that remind you off?) has Karin Glenmark singing in very high voice. It's yet another Björn lyric about a broken relationship.The two remaining B&B songs "Slow Emotion" & "Two Much Love is Wasted "are quite listenable but have boring lyrics. "The Middle of Nowhere" is the most memorable of the three songs written by Anders Glenmark.
This album did not do well commercially
and remains out of print, even in Sweden, (the only major post
ABBA B&B project to be totally out ofprint). It's failure
to suceed commercially on a international level meant that
most of the subsequent projects by B&B would not be released
outside of Sweden.
I found this album to be ridiculously hard to find. l. Fortunately , You can now get most of the tracks on this album on the 2005 Gemini compilation CD.

The second duet album by Karin Glenmark and her bearded brother -Anders. The formula was the same as on their 1985 album Anders and Karin sing, Benny and the ABBA band play,and Björn and Benny write and produce a majority of the songs (leaving the remainder for Anders) . The main differences between this album and the first Gemini album is that the songs on this album are a little lighter, less soulfful and and the lyrics have more of that early ABBA simplicity to them( which means that some of the songs dont appear to be about anything!)
Nevertheless, a few of songs are depressing
or at least less than peppy.This album has the English version
of Gemini's big Swedish hit "Mio Min Mio". In English
it's called " Mio My Mio". It was featured in a Swedish
movie. A soundtrack album (not easily obtainable) was made for
the film featuring instrumental music by Anders Eljas as well
the Swedish version of "Mio Min Mio." Karin Glenmark
reprised "Mio Min Mio" on
"Fran Waterloo till Duvmala".
The other songs are listenable, thoughI
didn't care for "I am a Bitch When I
See Red" which has Karin using hertough voice which is wretched
and unconvincing compared
to her more elegant "ballad voice"."Nearly There"
sounds like a rip-off of
a Chess melody. For some, reason,Anders Glenmark sounds like Prince
on "Wild About the Girl".
Overall, this is only a fair album. The great synthesizer hooks are there, the singing is OK, but the some of the songs are kind of empty.
Search out the first (harder to find) Gemini album before you look for this one. .

She sings a duet with 28 year old Italian opera singer Filippa
Giordano .
Frida joins Filippa in doing "La Bacarolle" from the
opera "The Tales of Hoffman" by Offenbach.
The song is released merely as bonus recording on a obscure Japanese
release-so Frida obviosuly is just trying to have fun, and not
make too many waves. Annoyingly this means yet again, a new Frida
recording is released that is not easy to obtain..
Be careful not to buy the earlier non deluxe edition of this album-it does not have Frida's duet included.
Male Swedish? singer who recorded a duet with Frida, called MOVIESTAR, which was a sizaable jit in Sweden, and also a hit elsewhere///

ABBA and B&B's loyal bassist played on more ABBA & ABBA solo songs than any other ABBA sidemen. Indeed he has probably played on ,more ABBA related records than anybody but Benny Andersson. He appears on each ABBA album, but was often spelled by British bassist , Mike Watson. Rutger, a skilled arranger, also did some string arrangements for ABBA...He played on Chess, Kristina, ,Mamma Mia (Swedish version).
Rutger hasn't done much in the way of actual solo work,most notably he recorded the rare b&b novelty song "Svea Svea"and has has worked in other bands (Nashville Train) , worked with Lasse Wellander, and done production and arranging work most notably with Celene Dion.Rutger generally has had a mustache, and shorter hair than ABBA's guitarists.

Nils Landgren & Funk Unit -Funky ABBA March 2004 Swedish CD
ABBA and the word funky- I just dont know....but it kinda works. This album by Swedish trombonist Nils Landgren, and his Funk Unit was coproduced /and coproformed by John Coltranes' son Magnum Coltrane Price. Nils Landgren is known to ABBA fans for his work playing on the "Voulez-Vous' album..Some of the singing on the album is done by female guest vocalists..
The Funk unit includes Henrik Janson who played with Gemini and ABBA drummer Per Lindvall plays on one track.
The album is sort of a jazz/funk fusion-and it works surprisingly well-it's rare to hear covers that bring out the high quality of ABBA songs. This works because it doesnt' sound at all like ABBA. But still I'm not sure I'd recommend unless you are open to jazz or are open to rap/funk...
This album features Benny Andersson playing piano on one track-a version of "When All is Said and Done. which features vocalist Viktoria Tolstoy. This is a good track-put that on a Benny compilation album, please! The track is similiar to the Annie Sofie Otter version of "Like an Angel Passing Through My Room" which Benny also guested on piano for..Both songs are stripped down versions of tracks orginally sung by Frida on THE VISITORS.... .

Swedish Singer/ Songwriter .Tomas Ledin was a bit of ABBA/Stig protege. He went along as the male background singer on ABBA's 1979 tour-in which he performed the track, "NOT BAD AT ALL:. His ten second solo spot on "Summer Night City' in the ABBA in Concert DVD is actually kind of cool." He actually wrote a few (ok) songs that appeared on the early 1980's solo albums by both Agnetha &Frida. Tomas Ledin ending up marrying Stig Anderson's daughter Marie, and also ended up owning Polar Studios' which sadly was shut down in 2004 due to high rent.. Tomas' early albums included , Captured, and Looking for a Good Time .

has an extensive solo career, most notably his Spirits of
Europa albums done with Stephen Scefa and work he has
done Janne Schaffer.
Blond Drummer on most of ABBA's 1980's work, as well as on Chess and other B&B's projects. He recorded one album (White on Blue) with a Swedish group. called ..Crossfade, (not be be conused with the American post grunge group also called Crossfade). Per has also worked Aha, Lasse Wellander and with Michael Ruff..

There has been more than one attempt to do instrumental versions of ABBA songs. This orchestral version-appears to have actually approved by Stig. This is too lively to be Muzak but it's not exactly classical music either.

Josefin Nilsson -an attractive, high pitched , Swedish singer, recorded her 1993 debut album with Björn and Benny. She recently appeared in the Swedish version of Chess. She also continues as a member of the Swedish group- Ainbusk ,who have also worked with Benny.

This is the closest we get to a ABBA album
in the 1990's. Benny wrote the songs for the album with Björn
and produced the record. This is a pop record, there are no excursions
into accordion music, birdsong, or the works of Vilhem Moberg!
This is the solo debut album of Swedish singerJosefin Nilsson
, who is also a member of the
Swedish singing group called Ainbusk.Her singing voice is generally
high ,she sounds sort of like restrained Bjork. Although Josefin
has not recorded another solo album with Benny she did work for
Benny on the Chess Pa Svenska project.
Benny and Björn interrupted their
work on their musical,
Kristina to write the songs for this album. Like the two
1980's albums by Gemini this is a pop/rock record. Unlike the
two Gemini albums, all the songs here were written by Benny and
Björn. Indeed, this was the first original album since ABBA's
THE VISITORS to have all the songs bear the Andersson-Ulvaeus
credit. Thus, this album is more cohesive sounding album than
either of the Gemini albums. SHAPES has some of rhythmic sensibiltites
of the second Gemini album. SHAPES occasionally sounds like Gemini
because Gemini's Anders Glenmark is the primary background vocalist.
What's left of the ABBA band-Benny, Per
Lindvall, Lasse Wallender and ever faithful Rutger Gunnarson play
on SHAPES, (but there is no sign of Björn's voice or guitar).
This is a surprisingly percussive album fortwo old fat guys to
have put together.
Benny even has started to use a synthbass on some of the tracks
(leaving poor Rutger
out in the cold). The lyrics are hit or miss-occasionally good,
occasionally only so-so.
The album opens strongly with the energetic
& rhythmic "Surprise, Surprise". There are some
great grooves to be found on "Midnight Dancer"and "Now
You See Him , Now You don't"
which also, has some highl yoriginal backing vocals (some of which
done are by Ainbusk) "Midnight Dancer " has an annoying
but memorable electric organ riff. Josefin saves a stupid song
"I Leave it to Love" with a over-the top vocal performance,
it's interesting how she sings the later verses
progressively deeper and richer.The boys have also come up with
some good ballads for Jo to sing, especially the evocative "Where
the Whales I have ceased to sing" and "The film I'd
like to see". "Film" closes the album somewhat
bombastically
but the lyric is surprisingly tender.
This album was not particularly successful internationally , or even in Sweden,Josefin has not recorded another solo album with Benny she did work for Benny on the Chess Pa Svenska project.Still this CD is a must- have for fans of the songwriting of Andersson-Ulvaeus.

Benny Andersson first saw Ainbusk ,a Swedish the singing/ theatrical quartet in the late 1980's. By 1993 Benny would produce this CD and cowrite three of the songs with Marie Nilson. Ainbusk's resident comedian and pianist. (Björn had no involvement!). The three songs Benny cowrote are "Drommarnas Golv", "Alska Mej " and "Jag mötte Lassie". "Lassie" was a Swedish hit. And yes, "Lassie is a song about a dog! The title of the album means "From Here to Faraway".
All four of the ladies of Ainbusk members
sing: most notably Josefin Nilsson, who would record her solo
debut ,SHAPES, album under Benny's direction.
Josefin shows off her vocal chops on "Lover Man", and
"Alska Mej".The other three members names are Birgitta
Jakobsson, Marie Nilsson and Annelie Roswall.
The CD booklet has some interesting photos of the ladies dressed
up in strange costumes.
This album was drawn primarily from one of Ainbusk's highly theatrical
Swedish stage shows-"Ainbusk jubileumsshow". (Ainbusk's
jubilee show).
.Apparently, some of the songs date from a couple years before.
"Lassie' was released as a very successful single in October
1990, and "Alska Mej" (Love Me) was released as a single
in April 1991.Although most of the songs are in Swedish this is
a very entertaining album, even the songs not written by Benny
are worthwhile, largely due to Ainbusk's innate charm.
This album was released on Benny's Mono label. Björn and
the ABBA band have no involvement on this album.

The legendary ,Elaine Paige (the original star of the London versions of CHESS, CATS, and EVITA) has put out around a dozen solo albums mostly in a theatrical style, she also can be found on many cast albums.
One of her albums was called the Queen Album and it featured Queen covers. Their were rumours in the early 2000's that B&B had supposedly wrote new duet for her Barbara Dickson to sing on a upcoming album, but it doesn't seemed to have panned out.

Kalle Moreaus -1991 Available on Swedish CD Features Björn and Benny
This is the first solo album by Kalle Moreaus,the leading member of Orsa Spelman.. On this album Kalle sings a bit more than he does with Orsa Spelman, and the song lineup is not strictly violin/accordion songs. (For example there is a Swedish version of Chuck Berrys "Maybelline". Of the the violin songs my favorite is "Schottis fran Lima".
This album is of interest to B&B fans because it has the new B&B Swedish language song "Beatrice' which Benny and Björn both play on. It is sung by Kalle. It's a good song. It was released as a single in April 1991.
This seems to be the first documentated
appearence by Björn playing a instrument on record since
the breakup of ABBA. Björn plays a 12 string guitar on "Beatrice'.

Blond long haired Swede, a non singing guitarist /composer. Janne was ABBA's first lead guitarist and most respected musician. Janne's pursuit of a solo career meant that Lasse Wallender would be ABBA's main lead guitarist from 1977 on. Janne continued to play on some ABBA sessions ,but did not play on ABBA 's 1977 or 1979 world tours.
He has worked in a number of bands notably the Electric Banana Band ,as well as working as a sideman with artists like Bob Marley, Ted gardestad, Johhny Nash and Björn J:son Lindh....

Long dark haired Swede ,Svenne Hedlund and his wife, the American, Charlotte Hedlund were members of Benny's group Hep stars . Charlotte is a short African-American singer who had sang briefly with an American pop/soul group called the Sherry's . Lotta (as she was known in Swedish) didn't join the Hep stars till 1968.
After the Hep stars broke up (in 1969) S&L worked as a duo. They worked with B&B on the Swedish folkpark circuit. S&L recorded albums in the 1970's for Polar, they recorded a number of B&B songs including a few not released by ABBA.They still perform today, although not always together. I think I'd rather go from Waterloo to Duvemala.
This CD includes some Hep Stars tracks along with Svenne and Lotta
recordings. This set doesn't do either group justice. This CD
does at least include Svenne & Lotta's Swedish version of
"Bang-A-Bommerang' which uses the same backing track as ABBA's.
This also has S&L's Swedish version of "Dance (While
Music Goes On). Annoyingly the handful of other non- ABBA B&B
songs Svenne & Lotta recorded such as "Funky Feet"
and" If We Only had the Time" are not to be found here.
Instead ,we get Svenne & Lotta's later 1980's work such as
the absymal "Rolls Royce".

Finally, a fairly good compilation of the work of Svenne & Lotta.
Svenne & Lotta were the lead singers in Benny's 1960's band -The Hep Stars. Svenne & Lotta continuedto work on and off with Benny during the early 1970's and were signed to ABBA's label- Polar music. Svenne And Lotta recorded some songs written for them ,as well as some oldies covers and a few B&B songs. They recorded the first Swedish versions of ABBA songs-Bang A Boomerang, "Dance (while the Music Goes On)" and "He Is Your Brother". One of the more interesting recordings here is the B&B disco track "Funky Feet" which was attempted but never recorded by ABBA. Although there a few interesting tracks Svenne& Lotta are a uneven act-and best heard as members of the Hep Stars.

Björn SKIFS and BLUE SWEDE
Björn SKIFS didn't actually play on any ABBA records.Björn and his band Blue Swede had the very first top 40 hit by a Swedish artist in America, a #1 cover version of "Hooked on a Feeling". (This record proceeded ABBA's "Waterloo' by a few weeks) . Björn sang a duet with Frida called "Med Vaerann'. Björn sang the part of The Arbiter on the Chess album and he played a trumpet on one song on Benny's "Klinga Mina Klockor" album. Björn has been a solo act for many years.

by ABBA engineer and resident comedian,
This album is famous for featuring all of the
members of ABBA and their band in the roles
of sideman to the incredibly silly -Michael B. Tretow.
The albums' title implies that this is a disco album but it's not-it's an album of humourous songs inspired by singers like the Coasters. Agnetha, Björn , Benny and the Abba band play on this album and Agnetha, Frida and Karin Glenmark sing backing vocals, it's a very funny album.
The album's main flaw is that Micke is not a great singer , or rather he sings too much.
This would have been a much more listenable album if Micke had Agnetha & Frida, hell, even Björn sing lead on a few of the songs. Until it's recent and much belated release on CD , this album had been one of the rarer ABBA collectibles..

Two tracks are of the most interest
to ABBA

a clever version of "Honey Honey' which features small bit
of 13 ABBA songs thrown in and secondly, Frida's
acappella collorabation with Sweden's The Real Group on "Dancing
Queen". This tracks marks the first release of new solo material
by Frida on American soil since "Something's Going On".
Of course, this track isn't really new it was released in 1994.
It's a great jazzzy version of "Dancing Queen." This
CD might have have been a good place to include U2's live concert
performance of"Dancing Queen" with B&B . But that
track is never going to see the light of day.

Anne Sofie Von Otter Meets Elvis Costello-For The Stars Early 2001 CD released worldwide
The album is produced by Elvis Costello and features him occasionally singing . Elvis even cowrote or wrote eight of the songs. Most of the lead vocals are done by Ms. Otter a renowned Swedish opera mezzo-soprano. This album includes a cover of ABBA's "Like An Angel Passing Through My Room". Benny Andersson was actually invited to play some great piano/synclavier on that track and accordion on "Broken Bicycles/Junk". Benny is even pictured twice in the liner notes. In general , The album is listenable, tasteful, but perhaps a trifle boring. It has been a commercial success.

Sofie's new CD covers the full spectrum
of the Benny Andersson/Bjorn
Ulvaeus songbook from early ABBA through Chess, Kristina and finally
to
the BAO. This album includes three new English lyrics of songs
originally recorded in Swedish. Two of these songs ("Walk
with You
Mama, and Butterlfy Wings " )are Bjorn's first new released
English
language lyrics in a long time.
The third new English translation is a transltion of "Efter
Regnet"
called as one would expect "after the Rain" ,the new
lyric is by the
original lyrist Mats Norklit.
Benny Andersson is pictured in the liner notes and he looks like
a old
man, and he manages to plays piano on two tracks -"Walk With
You,
Mama"and " After the Rain". Benny's friends -Anders
Eljas (piano,
arrangements) and Kalle Moreaus (banjo) also play on the CD. The
recordings were actually made in September 2004 at the the Atlantis
Studios (the studio often used by ABBA that was formerly known
as
Metronome studios. .) The album was produced by George Wadenius
, who
also plays on most of the tracks. The release was delayed partly
because Anne's busy schedule as operatic singer did not allow
proper
time to promote the album in 2005.
As fascinating as the selection of songs is. I am not sure that
Anne's
voice is ideal for some of these songs.... Still "Walk With
You, Mama"
works as do a few other tracks. Benny is pictured in the liner
notes
and he looks like a old man....
ABBA fans are starting to call Anne "Sofie the otter"
.They named a
new otter pup at the Stockholm aquarium after her, the other one
they
called Bjorn!

Mike Watson
A short British bass player.who somehow ended up in living and working Sweden.. He was ABBA's backup bass player when Rutger Gunnarsson was not used..(Sort of like Doug Mirabelli) .He played on five of ABBA's studio albums. He is also known for having portrayed Napoleon on the cover of the WATERLOO album... Mike has recorded on his own, and done other session work...Along with Malando Gassama (the Gambian percussionist) he is the only one of ABBA's regular session band to not hail from Sweden..

LASSE WELLANDER and Mats Ronander...
Lasse Wellander, a thin-dark haired Swede.
ABBA's main lead guitarist in their later career, He also
worked owith Agnetha, on CHESS, Gemini and the Shapes album...He
released a album with Mats Ronander in 1978.
Lasse has put out at least four solo albums in Sweden . .Recently
he recorded a a solo guitar version of "Anthem "from
Chess. Like Janne Schaffer, I have problems remembering how to
spell his name....It's W-E-L-L-A like Pella windows!!!!!

An album on released on Sonet records. Lasse sings on this album, Ola Brunkert plays drums and Claes af Geijerstam, ABBA's tour sound engineer also plays guitar....

Wellander & Ronader-Wellander & Ronander 1978 Swedish LP
An album on released on Polar records . Ronader sings I believe, Mats Ronander played guitar on the 1979 ABBA tour but didn't play on ABBA records other than ABBA LIVE. Mats also released a number of solo albums on the Polar label and appears on the 1992 Polar Tribute to ABBA CD.
Lasse Wellander-Full Hand Late 1985 Swedish LP
Lasse's solo album came out right after his work on CHESS, it was released on a label other Polar...Includes one song cowritten by Roxette's Per Gessle. The song is called "Hav Utan Hamn" Per Lindvall and Rutger Gunnarsson play on this album. this album reached #36 on the Swedish charts.
